Lasell Seminary

1881–82

Historical facts: ​​​​​​​​​​​

  1. Epsilon Chapter, Illinois Wesleyan, the Grand Chapter at the time, granted Tau Chapter its charter. Gamma, Wooster, (later renamed Beta Gamma) installed the chapter.

  2. The six charter members were the only initiates of the chapter.

  3. “Expense and lack of enthusiasm … prevented the development of Tau Chapter. … After two meetings, the charter was returned to Delaware, Ohio.”

Fun facts:​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

  1. Lasell was the last seminary the Fraternity placed a charter.

  2. Tau was the first chapter east of Ohio.

  3. Even though the chapter's charter was recalled at the 1882 Convention, the members were still able to wear their pins and remain members of Kappa Kappa Gamma.
