  1. On Nov. 2, 1986, the first meeting of Waterloo’s first sorority, Kappa Gamma Phi, was held.

  2. Kappa Kappa Gamma established its first Canadian chapter in 63 years — Delta Delta at McGill in Montreal was installed in 1930 — at the University of Waterloo on Aug. 18, 1993, when the 24 members of Kappa Gamma Phi became new members of Zeta Omega Chapter. 

  3. The installation of the new chapter took place on Jan. 8, 1994.

Fun facts:

  1. A female student who had been associated with fraternity Delta Omega Chi, the only Greek-letter organization on campus, realized the advantages of this type of society and decided to begin one for women.

  2. Kappa Gamma Phi's flower was the white iris.
