Historical facts: ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

  1. On Nov. 9, 1920, Gamma Zeta, a local group, was established on campus with the hope of becoming a chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma. Alumnae from Cheyenne, Wyoming, and Denver were much involved despite the great distance to Laramie, Wyoming.

  2. In 1926, Fraternity Director of Provinces Georgia Hayden Lloyd-Jones, Wisconsin, visited Gamma Zeta Chapter and liked what she saw. At General Convention that summer, permission was given for a formal petition, which was favorably received.

  3.  On Feb. 25, 1927, Gamma Omicron Chapter was installed by Georgia Hayden Lloyd-Jones. Beta Mu Chapter, Colorado, assisted.

Fun facts:

  1. Gamma Omicron was the first National Panhellenic Conference chapter on campus to sponsor a foreign student.

  2. Gamma Omicron was pleased to celebrate its 50th anniversary as part of the University of Wyoming by giving two $300 scholarships.
