Kappa Kappa Gamma came to the shores of sunny California on April 1, 1996, as members of local sorority Zeta Kappa at Pepperdine University, became new members of Eta Beta Chapter.
Thirty-seven collegians and 24 alumnae were initiated during the installation of Eta Beta Chapter on Oct. 4–5, 1996. Alumnae in the area joined chapter members from Gamma Xi Chapter, UCLA; Delta Tau Chapter, USC (Calif.); and Epsilon Xi Chapter, Cal State Northridge, to assist with the installation.
The chapter celebrated its one-year anniversary in April 1997 by winning the Best New Chapter award at the 1997 Kappa Province meeting.
Before pledging Kappa Kappa Gamma, the group was a longstanding local sorority and the largest on campus.
The pledging ceremony of Eta Beta Chapter took place in the Pepperdine Chapel overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
Faced with the devastating Woolsey Fire that affected Malibu, California, in 2018, Eta Beta Chapter canceled its fall formal and donated the chapter's funds to help relief efforts instead.
