Epsilon Xi

California State University, Northridge

1974

Historical facts:

  1. Epsilon Xi Chapter was installed the weekend of Nov. 15–17, 1974, with 20 charter members.

  2. Fraternity President Marian Schroeder Graham, Montana, was the installing officer. She was assisted by Kay Larson, Washington; Betsy Prior, Ohio State; and Elizabeth Hawkins Pickett, USC (Calif.)

  3. At the installation, chapter President Roseanne Horne accepted a unique old key that had been salvaged from a Los Angeles antique shop. The turquoise and seed pearl key was restored by Betsy Prior's husband, James C. Prior.

  4. In the 1980s, the chapter started an annual volleyball tournament fundraiser and raised $1,000 for charity.

Fun facts:

  1. One of the most touching moments of the installation weekend came as Betsy Prior presented chapter President Roseanne Horn with a particularly unique old president's key that had been salvaged several years prior from a Los Angeles antique shop by an alert Valley alumna. Carefully restored by Betsy's husband, James C. Prior, the lovely old turquoise and seed pearl key seemed to form a tangible link between Kappa's great tradition and the chapter.
