Historical facts:

  1. On Dec. 7, 1935, Fraternity officers came south for a Panhellenic Council meeting in Biloxi, Mississippi, and, at that time, they initiated the six charter members as the proud alumnae and co-organizers watched.

  2. With the university’s surprise announcement in 1958 allowing sorority houses, the chapter planned for a house. Ground was broken on March 14, 1965.

  3. During 1946–47, Delta Iota sponsored the newly formed Delta Rho Chapter, Mississippi, helped during Recruitment and attended the installation ceremonies, just as Beta Omicron Chapter, Tulane, had assisted in Baton Rouge, Lousiana, some 11 years earlier.

Fun facts:

  1. In 2010, the chapter was presented with the Risk Management Award at Convention.

  2. In summer 2019, construction began on Delta Iota’s new house.

  3. The chapter supports the St. Jude's Dream Day Foundation, which was co-founded by Marty Engquist, an alumna of the chapter. Delta Iota hosts an annual golf tournament, Kappa Klassic, to raise awareness and money for the St. Jude Dream Day Foundation.
